Stainless steel stamping

What is stainless steel metal stamping?

Stainless steel metal stamping is a metal processing process, mainly used to process stainless steel materials into specific shapes of parts through molds and pressure equipment. Here’s how:

  • Bending
  • Blanking
  • Coining
  • Curling
  • Drawing
  • Embossing
  • Piercing
  • Punching

Characteristics of Stainless Steel Stamping

Stainless steel has many unique characteristics, such as its multiple grades and applicable temperature range, which are evident in stamping, sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining. Because of its excellent oxidation resistance, light retention and rust resistance, people are full of praise for this material. Moreover, its appearance also enhances the overall beauty of the product, making it particularly popular in the manufacturing industry. Stainless steel is not only durable and strong, but also has excellent corrosion resistance and plasticity, so it can maintain stable performance no matter what kind of environment. • Enhanced heat resistance: It is composed of a significant amount of chromium and nickel, making it an exceptional stainless steel with superior heat stress resistance.
  • Aesthetically pleasing: Its sleek and mirror-like appearance can be further enhanced through polishing to achieve a higher level of finish or by selecting specific materials.
  • Health benefits: Due to its easy-to-clean nature, it is highly favored in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

Types of Stainless Steel

Austenitic stainless steel

Common grade: 304, 316, etc. This kind of stainless steel contains a high proportion of nickel and chromium, and has good corrosion resistance, toughness and weldability. Commonly used in food processing equipment, chemical equipment and medical equipment and other fields.

Ferrite Stainless Steel

Common grade: 430, 446, etc. This type of stainless steel is mainly composed of iron and chromium, and although the corrosion resistance is relatively low, it shows good oxidation resistance at high temperatures. It is usually used in automobile exhaust system and home appliance shell.

Martensite stainless Steel

Common grade: 410, 420, etc. This type of stainless steel contains a higher amount of carbon, making it have higher hardness and strength, but relatively speaking, its corrosion resistance is poor. Most used in tool manufacturing and some industrial components.

Duplex Stainless Steel

Common grade: 2205, 2507, etc. This kind of material combines the stainless steel characteristics of austenite and ferrite, which has excellent mechanical properties and good resistance to stress corrosion. Suitable for use in Marine environments or chemical treatment facilities.

Precipitation hardening stainless steel

Common grade: 17-4PH, this type is heat treated to increase strength while maintaining a certain degree of corrosion resistance. Commonly found in aerospace and military equipment, it is very suitable for occasions with extremely high strength requirements.

Special purpose stainless steel

Includes some stainless materials developed for specific needs, such as ultra-low carbon, less prone to biological contamination or resistant to extreme environmental conditions, which are often designed and produced to meet specific industry standards.

Application of stainless steel stamping parts

Stainless steel stamping parts have excellent physical and chemical properties, especially high corrosion resistance, which makes them used in various industries:

  • Automotive – Muffler, evaporator, condenser, connector, shock absorber
  • Appliance – Refrigerator hinge, air conditioning bracket, freezer hinge, TV bracket
  • Aerospace – High-temperature engine components, turbine blades, guide blades, hangers
  • Medical – Scalpels, tweezers, clamps, hospital beds, wheelchairs, examination tables
  • Construction – Door lock, handle, brace, hinge, door closers, handle, latch
  • Household goods – Tableware, toiletries
